Holiday Kickoff

Hope you're all having a great Christmas season :) Enjoy the company, love and wonderful spirit that abounds! I sure am! Don't forget to control yourself when it comes to overindulging, though!! I had probably 50 temptations this week (or more since they say you make over 2000 food choices a DAY!!) but I got through it!! It is possible!

Today is ons crazy day already. It's the first day of Christmas Break for my kids. It is also our 12 year Anniversary... wow do I feel old! haha! It's our turn to go clean the church (any second now), then our friend is getting baptized, then the kids are off to Grandma and Grandpa's, then we will be attending our Church Christmas Party, and THEN I plan on getting my workout in just before crashing exhaustedly into bed! And this is just the FIRST day of a so called "break", how's that for irony?? But I'm loving every second of it! They say if you want something done, have a busy person do it: they were right. I love being busy and helpful and getting things done. Ever notice you get more done when there is MORE TO DO? Double irony! (am I even spelling that correctly?)
Have a great weekend!

Painful Week

At least I'm not this guy!

Has it really been that long since I last posted?? Time sure can get away from me!
Well, I am COMPLETELY wasted this week... so sore! Between my workouts, Fit Clubs, PE, and Volleyball (Where I hurt my forearm: swollen and black and blue and oh, so tender) and not getting very good sleep (baby deciding she wants to keep me awake)...
Sooooo, I decided to take today off. Sometimes you've got to listen to your body and I'm pretty sure mine is screaming at me right now:) I don't want to do more harm than good, either!
It's kind of weird not having a workout planned... I feel a little guilty... But I followed my nutrition plann 100% this week!! Yes, I usaully follow it anyway, BUT I have had an exceptional amount of temptations (hello, cookie exchange!) too.

Also, I'm plugging away at my new website. Sometimes I get so frustrated I want to scream (mainly 'cause I'm not a computer genius!) and so I have to walk away... I don't like feeling like that :) But if I can get my act together I'll be unveiling it soon!!

Insanity Day 10

Well, Insanity has been interesting so far. I'm on day 10 and am over my soreness. At first it was my calves and then it moved to my back and then it moved to my ribs and back to my calves again... Funny how that works! But now I'm not sore at all. The major difference I am noticing is that I am hungrier. I really need to watch that I only use food that will "refuel" me and not bother with bad snacks. To better do that I'm splitting my Shakeology into 2, one half for lunch and then again for a snack later. It seems to be working...
They weren't kidding when they said that Insanity is all jump training and cardio! But the workouts aren't all that long and before you know it it's over, and you're COVERED in sweat. I don't usually sweat much, but afterwards there is a nice line of moisture from my neck to my stomach and my face is dripping!! So cool! That's how I know I'm getting a FANTASTIC workout!
If you're interested in learning more about the program or just want to watch success stories (my favorite) you can go HERE or if you want to sign up (for free) with me as your coach you can go HERE.

P90X2 Contest Submition

Here's a video we made this morning for the P90X2 contest. Side notes: It's harder than it looks (seriously, go try it right now, I dare you), and I was tuckered out by the time the modifying time came (because we had a lot of outtakes with the baby climbing all over me or screaming way too loudly!) The judging and public voting will be on Sunday and Monday, so please vote for me HERE!

Picking up Momentum

Today has been a very productive day! It started with my first Insanity workout at my Fit Club. There were 4 of us there dying! LOL. I didn't have a babysitter but the girls were great and stayed out of the way, for the most part.
I got a call from the local Senior Center. They are excited about my proposal to teach a free workout class once a week! I'm very excited about this! I'll be getting more information soon, and should be starting it up next week sometime.
I've got a few more contacts this week. And LOTS of feedback and interest. Also, my new youtube video hit over 125 views in 24 hours! YES!
Have I mentioned how much I LOVE what I do?? Where else can you work from home, do what you love AND help others to improve their quality of life (while also improving your own)?! If you are interested to know more please contact me (leave a comment with your contact info... don't worry I won't post it!).

P90X After Pics

I know this is late, but the holidays kind of got in the way. We are back in town now. My Shakeology cleanse went well. I ended up losing about 4 pounds. Not too shabby! And it was easy to travel while doing it too.
I finally got my P90X after pics taken. Consequently, they will be my Insanity before pics as well. :)
Here they are for you to preview. But keep in mind that I am going to be posting my updated youtibe video soon and you can see them there as well! (please do, since I'll need to get those "views" numbers up fast!)
(Also bear in mind that our iphoto is on the fritz and there are directly from the camera... what you see is what I got!)

Day 2

Still going great. No problems so far. Just when I feel really hungry... it's time for another shake!
On a side note: I've been updating my Transformation video today. It's a bit more hardcore than the first. Pretty much set to plug in some after pics and a few videos of me doing pullups or something... I think I'll ask on FB what people would want to "see" that I can do now...

Cleanse Day 1

Today I started the Shakeology Cleanse. So far it hasn't been bad at all. I'm feeling great (and maybe a little more energetic than normal). It's been hard to NOT workout, but it's for the best! I'm suppose to drink green tea, but I HATE tea and so I'm skippping that part :) Otherwise, everything seems to be going smoothly. I've got my chicken broiling in a pot and the smell is tantalizing!! The salad is made and ready to go... now to figure out what to make for my family to eat!! Not the best of circumstances to have to feed my family one thing while I eat another... but I'm getting use to it. I'm thinking they'll get leftovers from the weekend, anyway...

Why Do I Coach? Think BIG!!

I am a "Coach" for Beachbody. Yes, it is true, I get paid to help others. But the money is a perk. I am loving this opportunity to help others. I get to show people that it is NOT impossible to dream big and reach their goals!! I have finally found an outlet where I get to help others while doing what I have a passion for: fitness and health.
My entire life I have been athletic and a self motivator. I have struggled with weight each time I had another baby (4 times now). But I always got back to where I wanted to be, but not where I dreamed of being. Until this last year I didn't know it was possible! I am so grateful to our close friend who brought Beachbody (or more accurately: P90X) into our lives! I don't even think he is a coach, but he has helped us more that even he probably knows!! By being a coach myself I am paying it forward. I am here to help those who WANT help. I can't help someone who won't help themself, but I am here for them whenever they decide they are ready! If you want it bad enough I can steer you in the direction for success.
Now, I started with P90X. It was a bit extreme, epecially considering my level of fitness at the time (zero muscle and lots of fat), but I did it! There are other programs out there of varying levels of difficulty. It is not always optimal to start out extreme... that is how injuries happen which can result in discouragement and quitting. I say, start where you are comfortable. Maybe you just want to change your diet at first (Shakeology is a great and easy way to start!) and lose some initial weight. Or maybe you want to start with a good intense 6 week program (such as Slim in 6) or Power 90 (the prequel to P90X). Wherever you're at, I can help you find what you're looking for. And right now, there is a great deal on Challenge Packs. You can get a fitness program, Shakeology and a membership upgrade on your Teambeachbody account. And if you decide you want to be a coach it's free! All of which, save you $70 from the retail price! I have not seen a deal like it!
Another perk lately has been the chance to get in touch with old friends I haven't seen in years. I get to catch up with them and help them reach their goals. It doesn't get much more rewarding than that!!
And if you're reading this, and you're still on the fence. You want to... but you just don't know. Let me give you a few of my reasons why I started P90X (and eventually coaching):
1.) Weight loss
2.) None of my clothes fit... so embarassing!
3.) The winters here are terrible. I couldn't just go for a jog outside like I could before we moved here.
4.) With 4 kids it's not exactly easy to run over to the gym and workout... it would take an entire day to get ready, get them ready, drop off or pick up from school, scrounge change for the babysitting, baby needs a nap, yada, yada. It made me TIRED just THINKING about it!!
5.) I didn't WANT to workout anywhere that someone would SEE me (AKA in a gym or jogging on the side of the road)
6.) I overdid it on the holiday treats.
7.) I weighed MORE than my hubby. HIS clothes wouldn't even fit me!!!!
8.) Double chin (need I say more??)
9.) Depression: there were days (most of them) I didn't want to get out of bed and have to confront myself
10.) Now, here is the kicker for me: (warning: this gets a little personal)
One day as I was getting out of the shower I looked out the window (There was a house there that was vacant almost year round) and for some reason there was a truck with 2 men. I didn't have my contacts in, but was pretty sure they were looking right at me. Deer in headlights moment. I think they were there to mow the lawn or something... I was MORTIFIED!! I could NOT BELIEVE that someone had seen me in my condition: the fattest I have ever been in my life! I can only imagine the nasty image burned into their retnas for the rest of their days!!
To make matters worse, I only had one pair of pants that fit me. They were jeans that had elastic in them or something, and were extrememly stretchy. They looked small but would streeeeetch around my mass. One day after running errands all day, my daughter asked me what my underwear looked like. I thought it was a funny question and laughed then asked why. She said that I had a hole in my pants. Sure enough, it wasn't JUST a hole, it was a 2 inch wide rip from the top all the way down my rear!! I could NOT believe that she chose to tell me AT THE END of the day. I asked her how long it had been like that... ALL DAY!
Yeah, I'd have to say that was the turning point! Something HAD TO BE DONE! I decided I was going to go full throttle. No exceptions, no excuses. Never give up, never surrender!!
It has been TOUGH, but I have never waivered since. Sure I was scared to death (that it wouldn't work), I was so sore I thought my body was on fire the entire 1st month. There were times I would cry through a workout 'cause it was so hard (and I remember being able to do some of these things before without a problem, such as jumping jacks). It was definitely a humbling experience... but I saw improvement EVERY day. It was like crack, it got so addicting. I couldn't wait to see what I could do the next day. After awhile I started to amaze myself! I felt great about who I was and what I was accomplishing. I didn't look how I wanted to yet, but in my mind I was already there... until eventually I WAS there!! I AM there. I just finished reading "The Magic of Thinking Big" and it is so true, you can accomplish WHATEVER you decide to accomplish. Your successes and failures are of your own choosing! I feel I have grown so much in this last year. Not just physically, but mentally. Things are much clearer to me. I hope that I can help someone else who is where I was at, to find their dreams and make them a reality!! Anything is possible!!
If you made it all the way through this novel, you have already started your journey to success. Contact me and we can do it together! My email is: joshandjenivey@gmail.com

2nd Round of P90X... DONE!

Well, I just finished up my 2nd round. Loving my results!! I am now 120 lbs... the exact size and weight I was at in High School when I played soccer (I would lose weight in the offseason). Although, I'm sure I'm in better shape now since I can do pullups and pushups... which I never could do before!
I'm putting off starting Insanity until next week. I was at a loss as to what to do (maintenance wise) until then. My husband came up with a great idea (he always does!!), I'm going to do a 3 day Shakeology Cleanse.
I have never done this before. It should be fairly simple though. Since I don't smoke, drink alchohol or caffeinated beverages, and therefor I won't have to worry about withdrawls. (But this "cleanse" is a great way to help overcome those obstacles if they are something you struggle with.)
It is pretty simple: have 3 "shakes" a day and a chicken dinner with salad at night (and you can include one fruit into the day if you need to) along with green tea. I have heard it is common to lose around 5+ pounds doing this.
If this sounds like something you want to do, then check out my facebook page (http://facebook.com/XtremeMother/) and send me a message. After Thanksgiving is a very popular time to do it (especially if you're feeling guilt about overeating for the holiday!) I'll be taking some updated photos soon so be on the lookout!

Integrity

Wow, I have been bombarded with hearing some unsavory things about other MLMs. To tell you the truth, it really saddens me. It only takes one bad experience to turn someone off forever... even to good products and companies! There are definitely some companies (and people) out there who are just out to make a quick buck, and they don't mind selling you pond scum if it gets them some major $$. Here's my take on that: better enjoy that money while it's coming in 'cause it won't last! If your purpose is all about money and not about the good of the people you are serving then you are DOOMED to fail!
Why do I do what I do? Why do I workout everyday? Why do I share it with EVERYONE I come in contact with? There is no point in me running after people for a few dollars here and there. Why would I want to do that? I want to inspire others and have them approach me for help. If they don't want it then they won't stick to it. Why would I sell something to someone when they don't want it. Or worse, if it wasn't good for them! I have done my research and I am positive that Shakeology's health benefits are unmatched. I have seen results from both the Beachbody workouts and Shakeology... no photoshopping needed!
First of all, I agree with serving people. It's all about service. What do I have to offer? How can I help this person? And do they REALLY want help? It's pointless to try to help someone who isn't ready to help themselves. And I'm not about to give them all kinds of untruths or fake facts in order to make a sale. The products and services I provide are 100% for their benefit... Let's face it, I probably wouldn't make a great "salesman" because I won't sell just anything. The products and programs I use and enjoy are the ones I wholeheartedly endorse.
This morning as I came home I noticed the nice lady across the street unloading groceries. I thought, I bet she could use some help. So I walked over and we started chatting. I found out her daughter has been diagnosed with less than 6 months to live. I was shocked, her daughter is my age! By serving this woman I felt the instant sensation of caring for her and wanting to help her and her daughter. Of course I shared information about Shakeology with her. How could I not, knowing of the benefits it has. I'm not saying it cures fatal diseases... but what if it could? What if she is able to have longer than 6 months because I decided to help her mother unload her groceries??
That is why I am a Beachbody Coach. I love being able to help, serve, inspire, and teach others how to better themselves and make their lives more fullfilling. Money comes and goes, but relationships last forever! I continue to be amazed at the integrity of this company and am happy to share in the mission to End the Trend of Obesity! Let me know if you want to learn more about Shakeology or becoming a coach.

My Kind of "Weight" Problem :)

Wow! Today I am sore!
Probably my own fault... did 2 workouts yesterday. My friend came over to workout and I just couldn't resist... then I decided to up my weights... A LOT. My biceps are not happy with me... definitely feeling it now! May have had something to do with not getting ANY "recovery" sleep last night because the baby was having tummy issues. Poor girl (her not me... well, me too I guess) Hopefully it won't mess up my Volleyball game tonight!! Planning on getting myself some sweet volleyball shorts soon... why didn't I think of it sooner? Oh wait, 'cause it's FREEZING around these parts!!

Are you INSANE??

So as my 90 days are winding down, I'm looking to the horizon. What next? Is there life after P90X?? Haha.
I'm thinking of doing a round of Insanity next. Only 60 days... seems doable... except when I watch this video... makes me nervous and excited too...! Anyone want to join me??

Self Discipline Affects Self-Esteem

I really enjoyed the book "Eat That Frog". Here's a little excerpt:

Elbert Hubbard defined self discipline as "the ability to make yourself do what you should do, when you should do it, whether or not you feel like it or not."
In the final analysis, success in any area requires tons of discipline. Self-discipline, self-mastery, and self-control are the basic building blocks of character and high performance.
Starting a high priority task and persisting with that task until it is 100% complete is the true test of your character, your willpower, and your resolve. Persistence is actually self-discipline in action. The good news is that the more you discipline yourself to persist on a major task, the more you like and respect yourself, and the higher your self esteem. And the more you like and respect yourself, the easier it is for youto discipline yourself to be more persistent.

Challenge Group FAQs

What makes Beachbody Challenge Groups so effective?
I'm a big proponent of challenges. They are highly motivational, and everyone who participates tends to commit themselves even more by being together. When you are in a small group, communication is much easier, you hold eachother accountable, and push eachother more than if you were in a larger group. And you can always count on some serious competition, forcing you to achieve better results than you could've otherwise. When you have competition, encouragement, accountability, and support from 5 other people it is literally a recipe for success! If you truly want to acheive your fitness goals, you're not going to find a better way than in a Challenge Group!

How do I join a challenge group? The first thing you need to do is make me your coach if I'm not already. As you may not know, it is free to make me your coach (click here to do so). By making me your coach, you will have constant access to me. I'm here to answer questions and give support. I will be checking in daily with each challenge group.
Next, you have to be taking Shakeology and using a Beachbody program (such as P90X, Insanity, Turbofire, etc...) The reason Shakeology is a requirement is because it is a product I use and believe in 100%. I recommend it to everyone I know, especially friends and family! If you want to get the best results, then you need to be using Shakeology every day, combined with a healthy diet and workout program. As of TODAY Beachbody just released new Challenge Packs that include Shakeology, a workout program, and a FREE 30 day club membership, all at a discounted price.
Once you purchase a Challenge Pack (or meet all the requirements), email me at joshandjenivey@gmail.com and I will pair you with 4 other people who have the same goals and are as commited as you are, I'll create our own exclusive Facebook group, and we'll get started!!
What will I need once I'm in a Challenge Group? The first thing you will need is to share your goals with me and everyone else in the challenge group. Once in the group, you will need to post daily that you've completed your workout, followed the diet, and ask any questions or provide support for the other members. While going through your journey, you're going to want to take photos every 2 weeks to share with the group. This way you can show your results and stay commited! If you want, you can hold certain challenges with your group as well. Such as who loses the most weight in 30 days.
Are there any Prizes? YES! Beachbody will be giving away daily, monthly, quarterly, and even a grand prize of $100,000 for those people with the best results! (Learn more about these prizes here)
I'm confident you're not going to find a better way to get results (that last) than by being a part of a Beachbody Challenge group! Unlimited support, constant encouragement, friendly competition, and some added prizes to motivate you to commit yourself to getting into the best shape of your life! I can hardly wait to help you reach your goals!!

Challenge Packs are here!!!

Alright, I don't know about you, but last nights Trick or Treating madness has earned us way too many fruits of our labors! You know what I mean: candy everywhere!! So, believe it or not, I'm throwing it out and recommiting! Who's with me? Today is a great day to do it too, 'cause the new Beachbody Challenge Packs are out! It's a great chance to get a screaming deal on Beachbody pruducts! You can go HERE to check it out. And if you join before the 5th I will include you into my elite challenge group, with other like minded people who will help inspire one another and stay accountable!

How Bad Do You Want It?

You know it's there...

That nagging in the back of your mind...

It never goes away...

At times it's louder than others. Like when you see somone jogging at the side of the road. Or when you go out to eat and are about to put 1,000 calories into your mouth.

That consistent urge to WANT to be healthier, to WANT to look good, to WANT to feel good. But then you continue on the road you have chosen. The road to UN-health.

So tell me this: How badly do you REALLY want it?? Is there a price you could put on it?

Some people go and have surgery which costs a phenomenal amount of money and pain... and usually they have to change their diet ANYWAY.

I'm just wondering, what would you pay to have the health you always wanted?

Obviously, I'm not just talking money. I'm talking time, sweat... EFFORT.

Anything worth having takes effort. Don't fool yourself into thinking it doesn't.

What kind of sense would it make to have everything come easy? Would we ever really learn anything? Would anything ever get done?

Do you know someone who seems to have it all together? Who seems to get things done, has nice things, looks great, has a happy family, and on and on...

Do you think those things just fell into their lap? Do you really think that person doesn't put an enormous amount of effort into their continued success?

I know, these are hard questions. The truth is hard. Life is hard. But once you make the choice to take control of your life, you'll never look back. Decide NOW not to sit on the sidelines anymore. Decide now to change your future.

Decide now and every day. Utlimately it is a choice: go for a walk or take a nap? Park far away and walk? Take the stairs? Use your gym membership during lunch. Put down that cupcake...

We make over 2,000 choices a DAY. How many are healthy ones?

Need help? Start small. Small things add up fast!
1.) Commit to workouts 3 times a week. Schedule the time and don't miss it! Don't LET it be optional! (sign up HERE for a free membership and workout calendar to help you keep track and stay focused)
2.) Replace one meal a day with Shakeology. It tastes like a milkshake and has the equivalent nutrients of over a dozen fruits and veggies. (And if you signup for Shakeology home direct, you'll get free workouts to implement 3x's a week! Bonus!)
3.) Don't overdo it on the sweets or breads!! These are trigger foods. They'll make you stay hungry and eat more... so steer clear! Remember: Treat treats AS treats!!
4.) Look at the bright side. The more you see that is good, the more you will see. The brighter you choose to be, the lighter you will see. (ok, I didn't mean for that to rhyme)
5.) Pay it forward. Be the example to others. Help others and it'll come full circle!
6.) Read a good book. Not just a classic (although I am a fan!) but a self improvement book.

There are so many other options... these are just off the top of my head. But don't forget to ask yourself: How badly do you want it?? And the decision won't be a decision at all!

A Challenge for Everyone

So here is the lowdown:

I am getting quite a bit of interest in my new challenge. But then I figured, why only focus on weightloss? A lot of people I've been talking to aren't overweight, but they just want to be toned. Then there are others who are in good shape already but want to take it to the next level. Why should I leave them out? Well, the answer to this is: I won't!!

So I am now forming 3 groups. One focusing on weight loss, one focusing on toning and firming, and another going to the extreme and maybe even getting ready for P90X2 when it comes out!
Each group will have a very limited number of participants so no one will be falling through the cracks. We will be setting and acheiving goals and supporting eachother. If you are interested in takng part in one of these challenges, please let me know soon! Spots are filling up!

"You cannot teach a man anything: You can only helpfind it within himself." ~Galileo~

Tomorrow is the big day. I've invited 19 people to my Fit Club. I've made the signs. I've mapped out a program and workout. If you build it they will come... I hope!!

Saturday, October 15, 2011

Welcome to my new workout blog! Hope you'll settle in and feel inspired to work. I'm loving P90X and plan on moving to other Beachbody workout programs (Turbofire looks incredible!). I'm here to answer any questions about any of the programs. I also hope that you'll decide to better yourself and get movin'! You'll be so glad you did!!
Here are some of my personal stats for you to peruse:

(keep in mind, I am condensing two 90 day rounds into this)... (also, keep in mind, during round one I was still nursing and could not stick to the diet)

Lost over 20 inches (throughout my body), lost 25+ pounds (goodbye double chin!), can do 15+ pushups (no knees and in a row), 4 pullups and run 4+ miles. No record breakers, but I'll take it! Still moving forward and still pushing play!

And if you count all the push ups I do in one workout it'd be over 70 (still no knees), and pullups would be about 14. Not too shabby! (Especially for me... notorious for having zero upper arm capabilities!!) Along with that I can keep up with the videos now. Previously, the hardest for me were: Yoga X, Plyometrics, and Ab Ripper X. Pretty exciting to do things that were physically impossible before!

Like the funny pic I chose up top?? hee, hee.
